DKSC Screening [Until the Stones Speak]

DKSC에서는 제주 4.3 관련 군사재판에 연루된 다섯 명의 여성 민간인 생존자들의 이야기를 담은 다큐멘터리 <돌들이 말할 때까지> (2023) 의 온라인 상영회를 개최합니다. 상영 후 영화를 연출한 김경만 감독님과의 Q&A시간이 마련될 예정입니다. 행사는 한국어로 진행됩니다.

DKSC is hosting a special screening of Until the Stones Speak (2023), directed by Kim Kyung-man, in recognition of the Jeju April 3 Massacre (Jeju 4.3). This poignant and evocative film calmly follows the lives of five women who endured an era nearly unimaginable today. As young women in their early twenties, they lived through the devastating turmoil of Jeju 4.3. Among them, four were wrongfully imprisoned in Jeonju without trial, forced to endure years of unjust incarceration. Their stories reveal that the impact of Jeju 4.3 was not confined to the island nor buried in the past—it was a profound injustice that shaped generations. It was only after more than 70 years that their innocence was finally recognized through a retrial led by the Jeju 4.3 People’s Solidarity. The film will be presented in Korean with English subtitles, and the conversation with the director will be conducted primarily in Korean. Join us for this special screening, followed by a discussion on the film’s themes and its contemporary significance.
